GREEN CARE COOPERATIVE
Communities Advancing Recovery, Empowerment, Sustainability
Green care is the use nature- and community-contact to enhance and prolong mental wellbeing and physical health.
At CARES.green, we believe that healing ourselves, healing our communities, and healing the Earth are inseparable.
Our overall mission is to connect people with sustainable, community-driven health experiences that support wellness, regeneration, and personal advancement.
Our cooperative aims to empower, proliferate, protect, and unite organizations providing green care.
We want to uplift the changemakers—care farms, community gardens, mutual aid networks, climate stewards, land-based therapists, and other local innovators—who are building a world where people and planet thrive together.
Research shows that community-rooted support and nature-based therapy are the most effective responses to mental illness. Yet far too many people are struggling alone—navigating overwhelming systems, short or costly clinical sessions, endless medications, or disconnecting through unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Our Philosophy
Our fundamental philosophy is that sustainable wellness requires three points of healthy connection. The quality of our connections is what drives our sense of wellness:
connection to self
connection to community
connection to ecology
Our public benefit corporation and 501(c )(3) nonprofit act as two hands to one heart (each with it's five "branches of action"). While differing in tasks and roles they operate in coordination to achieve our mission of promoting and proliferating nature-, community-, and self-connected wellness and health.
